drone

A tender will be issued in the coming days for a medical drone service between Malta and Gozo.

Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, along with the Gozo General Hospital, have been working to structure the tender in recent months.

He said that 11 monoclonal antibodies will be transferred on a regular basis to ensure more patients receive the care they need in an expanded section of the Day Care Unit at GGH.

The drone service will also be used to rapidly deliver blood samples, fluids and tissue specimens.

It will connect all entities within the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing through the use of drones, including San Vinċenz de Paul and the Ċensu Moran Centre.

“This drone service is expected to benefit several Gozitan patients by allowing them to receive medical treatment in Gozo, reducing unnecessary travel for them and their families,” Dr Abela said.
