The team at Kamra tal-Periti (KTP), its President André Pizzuto, Infrastructure Minister Chris Bonett and Infrastructure Malta (IM) engineers have met over the past few days, following KTP’s Msida Park proposal.

Following an initial meeting between Mr Pizzuto and Dr Bonett, another meeting involving the design team behind the project and IM’s civil engineers took place on Wednesday.

The purpose was to explain the urban design and planning concepts behind the project to facilitate its development and implementation.

The parties are to reconvene at a future date to provide IM with the time necessary for the technical development of the new project.

The Msida Park proposal seeks to redirect traffic away from Msida, prioritise public transport routes with dedicated cycle lanes and free up space for urban greening.

Recently, KTP in collaboration with Periti studio and designprinciple, unveiled a new conceptual proposal, Msida Park, that addresses concerns about IM’s current plans for Msida creek.

The Msida Creek aims to construct two 175-meter-long flyovers, with the aim of significantly increasing the junction’s current capacity of over 4,500 vehicles per hour.

Contrary to this vision, KTP’s concept is to transform Msida’s core into a 20,000 square metre park, providing the densely populated local community a much-needed public space for leisure and recreation.

The proposal also reorganises two other junctions in the area so that the transport needs are concurrently addressed.
