Next year, Malta is set to host the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) third symposium on digital health systems.

This was agreed during meetings in Denmark between Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela and WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge, together with the directors of the WHO Executive Council.

Towards the end of next year, Malta will host the WHO European Region Symposium, bringing together clinical professionals, policymakers and the private sector.

Minister Abela welcomed this news, saying that the event will once again put Malta “at the forefront of initiatives for the health sector.”

He said that Malta supports WHO’s initiatives in the field of digital health, referencing how country is drafting a Digital Health Strategy with the support of the WHO.

This strategy is due to be launched for public consultation later this year, with the intention of setting out a vision for the sector up to 2030.
