The Nationalist Party today launched a series of proposals to incentivise efficiency in public sector work, recognise experience, and motivate works to invest in their careers.

The proposals are aimed at improving the working conditions of workers in the public sector, while ensuring that they lead to a better quality of life. This incluces, among others, the opportunity to grow in their career and improve their working conditions.

In a news conference on Friday, addressed by MPs Karl Gouder and Joe Ellis and general election candidate Ivan Castillo, the PN promised that as a new alternative government, it will ensure that conditions of public sector employees improve wherever possible, while ensuring a quality service for all citizens.

The proposals announced by the Nationalist Party are:

  1. A review of government salary scales to reflect the market to attract the best people to the public service.
  2. Workers will be incentivised for greater work efficiency and those who work hard will be adequately compensated, including through a performance bonus.
  3. Recognise experience and motivate workers to invest more in their careers.
  4. A transparent system that facilitates transfers of workers, when done at the request of the workers themselves. Such a transfer would be processed in a shorter time. Also, those workers who have suffered unfair transfers, against their will, will be able to appeal from this, and will be sent back.
  5. Strengthen family-friendly measures for a better work-life balance, including the strengthening of teleworking and remote working.
  6. Further facilitate flexibility in cases of some merit. This includes increasing the current 16-hour capping for urgent family situations.
  7. Promote physical exercise while protecting employees’ mental health.

“These proposals,” the party said, “clearly show how committed a new Nationalist Government is to, in its first few months, implement a change for employees in the public sector by guaranteeing stability and a better quality of work.”
