Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis, together with her husband and fellow-actor Ashton Kutcher, have helped to raise over $18 million (€16.5 million) in donations for the people of Ukraine and the humanitarian effort following Russia’s invasion and war against its neighbouring country.

Ms Kunis, born in Chernivtsi, southwestern Ukraine, took to social media to inform fans that the couple’s ‘Stand With Ukraine’ campaign was halfway towards reaching its $30 million (€27.5 million).

“UPDATE!! 15 million. We are halfway to our goal. Thank you for the support!,” she told fans.

In addition, the celebrity power-couple have pledged $3 million (€2.6 million) of their own funds.

“We just wanted to give you a quick update as to where we stand with the fundraising. We’re halfway through. We’re super-excited, and we want to say thank you to each and every single one of you. It’s been an incredible past 48 hours.

“I have always considered myself an American, a proud American. I love everything that this country has done for myself and my family, but today I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian.”

On his part, Mr Kutcher shares that the campaign’s GoFundMe page has seen nearly 50,000 donations.

Ms Kunis also took to social media to introduce Ryan Petersen, the founder and creator of Flexport, and Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb, to explain how these donations would be spent.

Mr Petersen and Mr Chesky shared that funds would finance housing and the cost of living for Ukrainians.

Ms Kunis and Mr Kutcher launched their ‘Stand With The Ukraine’ GoFundMe page to provide immediate support for Ukrainian refugees and humanitarian efforts.
