On Wednesday (today), APS Bank warned the general public and its customers to be extra vigilant because of reports of phishing.
“We have received reports of phishing attempts by calls impersonating APS Bank,” it has shared.
The bank advised customers against assuming any incoming calls from (+356) 21226644, whether in Maltese or English, are necessarily from the bank.
Additionally it emphasised that the bank would never ask for passwords, full card number, myAPS PIN/codes or CVV number.
Nontheless, APS shared that if in doubt, customers can call its contact centre on (+356) 21226644 from Monday to Sunday between 8am and 9pm.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that banks were a target for scams. Last November, BOV issued warnings on dangerous texts sent on the same threads as legitimate messages.
The PA is clear about the fact that this is about restoring what was lawfully there, nothing more
